Squaremuse roadmap and exciting things to look forward to in 2020

Besides having launched 3 new gorgeous Designs, we are now ready to introduce a revolutionary Installer that will make things 10x easier for our clients. Read more about it down below and find out what to expect in terms of Squarespace 7.1 updates, as well.

Squaremuse Designs for Squarespace 7.0

Spring Collection Launch

If you’ve been following us in the past weeks, you probably know that Squaremuse just released 3 new designs for Squarespace 7.0 - Lyra, Elise and Brienne - all absolute stunners! 

Lyra was brought to Squarespace from Flothemes, and it’s a bold and super eye-catching design. If you are a photographer, designer, stylist, blogger or well-rounded artist - you’ll love Lyra.  Elise was also inspired by one of Flothemes’ bestsellers. It’s a light and romantic design, and will perfectly serve fine art, family and family photographers, as well as creatives who work in the wedding industry. Brienne is a clean & minimalistic website design, that is also hip and very expressive - created for lifestyle and fashion bloggers, influencers and trendsetters. We are also super excited to announce that all 3 designs from the Spring Collection come with an Installer that sets up the demo pages into your Squarespace account literally within minutes. Well, this shakes things up a bit, doesn’t it? And we mean it in the most positive way possible.

Squaremuse Installation Wizard (Installer)

We call it a wizard and a total game-changer for all Squaremuse clients because it really works like magic. No jokes here - the installer implements the Design Kit demo pages inside your Squarespace account within 5 minutes. Basically, instead of building each page on your own, we have the Installation Wizard do it for you. Once the setup process is complete, all you have to do is edit Site Styles, then implement the CSS code and populate the demo pages with your own imagery and copy - all of these steps are covered in detail in our video tutorials. We mean it when we say that the Installer will save you precious hours or even days that you can spend on your business, family, to catch up on your favorite Netflix TV shows and rest.

For now, the installer is available within the new designs (Brienne, Elise and Lyra) only - you have probably noticed they come with a slightly higher price, too. We plan to gradually roll out all current designs kits with the Installer, hoping it will help our users set up their designs quicker and make the website building process smoother and more fun!

Updates on existing Design Kits and Pricing Kits

Out with the old, in with the new. While the website building process is super fun and teaches you a lot about Squarespace, it can be quite time-consuming. We plan to gradually have all our existing designs work with the Installation Wizard and will release an updated Design Kit every 2 weeks - starting with the most recent ones (i.e Fiji, Leia, Crowd, Porto, Osaka, etc), being followed by Pricing Kits. The Design Kits and Pricing Kits will look absolutely the same, as nothing changes in terms of design and layouts. They will only be upgraded to include an Installer and to make the setup process easier. 

Update: Fiji Design Kit with Installer is available in shop starting with February 29th, 2020.

Important: 

If you got a Squaremuse Design Kit (Fiji, Leia, Crowd, Porto, Osaka, Minima, Venice, D’Avella, Miró, Ónyx, Chalk or Black Ónyx, ) or Pricing Kit in the past 30 days (between January 17th - February 17th 2020) and did not implement it yet - we will offer you a free switch to the same product but with an installer, once it’s released. You will not receive a free switch for purchases after February 17th 2020.

If you purchased between November 16th - January 16th, you can get an updated Design Kit/Pricing Kit with a 50% discount, which will be applied to the new price (see details below). Please note that if you have already implemented the design into your Squarespace account - it’s best to keep it that way, since the design stays the same, while the setup process simplifies.

Updates on Custom Elements

All our Custom Elements will keep the same setup process as before, there will not be an installer available for them and they will stay at the same price. We will be releasing a new batch of Custom Elements end of Spring, specifically Testimonials, FAQ and Info Blocks from our Pricing Kits.

Price changes in 2020

1. Designs

The price changes will roll in as soon as the Design Kits are updated to the Installer version.

All Design Kits with Installer will cost $249. If you want to DIY and get a Design Kit with the current price ($199), it’s your time to purchase now. Pricing Kits and Custom Elements won’t change in price.

2. Setup Services

We are removing our Demo and Full Setup packages for Design Kits that come with an installer. If you plan to get a setup service for a Design Kit that is with an Installer, here is what services you can use:

Installation Support Package - $179. The package covers running the Installer, Site Styles editing & CSS code implementation. This package does not cover content population and website launch, which you will be able to implement on your own following the detailed video tutorials we provide.

Full Package - $699. The package covers running the Installer, Site Styles editing & CSS code implementation, content population (adding your imagery and copy), website launch, one-to-one communication. This package does not cover the price of the Design Kit.

Squaremuse Designs for Squarespace 7.1

We absolutely love Squarespace 7.0 and we are excited to experiment with the 7.1 version. While we do that, we will stick to our favorite 7.0 and we’re not letting it go any time soon. Note that our Designs will keep working with Squarespace 7.0 and we will release new products for 7.1. 

If you have a website on 7.0 and are planning to switch to 7.1, know that there isn’t an automatic importer available at the moment since the two versions are completely different in their structure. 

If you are just starting out with a new domain, are onboarded on a Squarespace 7.1 template and you’d like to use one of Squaremuse Designs for 7.0 - there is an easy fix for that. If you’re still in trial with 7.1, you can create another site within your account and use 7.0.

Design Kits for Squarespace 7.1

Many of you have been asking, so here it is! We have some exciting news for Squarespace 7.1 users. We are now working on creating Squaremuse Designs for Squarespace 7.1, and are starting with Osaka, which will be released in spring 2020. Expect the designs to look slightly different (you’ll still know they are Squaremuse, though), since Squarespace 7.1 offers a somewhat limited functionality in comparison with 7.0.

Custom Elements for 7.1

We plan to release a batch of custom elements for Squarespace 7.1 - Sliders for now - since SS 7.1 has limited functionality and it does not offer full-width sliders at the moment. For now, know that all our Custom Elements are only compatible with Squarespace 7.0 and if you are not sure if they are compatible with your template, it’s best to reach out to our team and confirm with us before you purchase.
